Good Finds, Greater Purpose: Destiny’s Calling Opens a Booth at The Shoppes at River’s Edge in Rock Hill

Good finds are even better when they help build a future.

Destiny’s Calling Resale now has a booth at The Shoppes at River’s Edge in Rock Hill, South Carolina—another place to shop great secondhand treasures while supporting a mission that matters.

The Shoppes, at 951 Celriver Road, is an indoor marketplace with about 50 local small businesses. Visitors can browse antiques, home décor, clothing, furniture, toys, gifts, and one-of-a-kind pieces. Destiny’s Calling officially opened there on April 6, giving the community one more way to find something special and help fund safe housing for survivors.

Why This Booth Exists

The space is about more than resale.

Destiny’s Calling Ministries is working to build a secure, Christ-centered home in York County for girls ages 13–21 who have been rescued from sex trafficking. The home is being designed for long-term healing and stability: housing, counseling, education, life-skills training, and ongoing support.

The resale ministry helps make that vision possible. One hundred percent of proceeds support the mission.

So when you take home a handbag, a piece of jewelry, a lamp, or a piece of furniture from River’s Edge, you are not just finding a deal. You are helping build a safe place where young survivors can begin to heal and rebuild their futures.

What You'll Find at River's Edge

Thanks to generous donors and dedicated volunteers, the booth is always changing. Shoppers may find clothing, jewelry, home décor, furniture, handmade handbags, designer purses, vintage perfume bottles, Willow Tree figurines, and other unique pieces.

“Our inventory changes weekly because of the many generous donations we receive daily,” volunteer Loretta Hedge says. “Shoppers will always find good quality items here.”

Every visit can bring a new discovery.

One of the people who helped make this location possible is Loretta Hedge, a Destiny’s Calling volunteer whose initiative and follow-through have become an important part of the organization.

After moving to the Charlotte area to be closer to family, Loretta got involved even before the Clover shop opened. She helped organize the ministry’s first two fundraisers and later worked with other volunteers on two successful Winter Pop-Ups.

In October 2025, she reached out to The Shoppes at River’s Edge about bringing Destiny’s Calling into the marketplace. That conversation became the booth you can visit today. She now helps keep the Rock Hill space organized, welcoming, and stocked with new treasures.

When she isn’t volunteering, Loretta enjoys baking, needlework, tennis, pickleball, and - as she puts it - being a little addicted to Mahjong.

Her work does not stop at the booth. Alongside fellow volunteer David Dover, she also helps manage Destiny’s Calling merchandise on eBay. Every shipment includes a brochure and a handwritten thank-you note, another chance to introduce someone to the organization.

“Getting the word out there is so important, and I do that at every opportunity I find,” Loretta says.

She keeps brochures and newsletters with her to share in everyday conversations. For her, those moments matter because every new person who learns about Destiny’s Calling has a chance to join the mission.

When asked what the organization means to her, she talks about a promise.

"To me, Destiny's Calling means more than hope; it means a promise. A promise to do what I can to help this nonprofit succeed in its mission while bringing awareness to this horrific crime."

She adds:

"Every commitment, every donation, and every person who chooses to help brings us one step closer to giving these girls the safe, hopeful future they deserve."

That spirit is what the River's Edge booth is meant to show. A donated item becomes something someone else can enjoy. A purchase supports the mission. A volunteer gives time. A conversation can bring the next person in.
