For those of you who are fasting for the month of January, the good news is that we are more than half way through the month. And for those who did a 21 day fast you could be close to the finish line, depending on when you began. Either way, my prayer is that you have had an opportunity to be more focused on God along with increasing your time in prayer and reading your word.
If you haven’t had an opportunity to read chapters one and ten in Daniel, I encourage you to take a few minutes and read about the benefits of fasting. Most of us focus on the 21 day Daniel fast and the fact that God answered Daniel’s prayer during that time. The word that the Lord gave us last week was in relationship to Daniel’s ten day fast. The Holy Spirit gave us the word “Elevated.” God elevated Daniel after his ten day fast.
Daniel 1:17-21 “To these four young men God gave knowledge and understanding of all kinds of literature and learning. And Daniel could understand visions and dreams of all kinds. 18 At the end of the time set by the king to bring them in, the chief official presented them to Nebuchadnezzar. 19 The king talked with them and he found none equal to Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah; so they entered the king’s service. 20 In every matter of wisdom and understanding about which the king questioned them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and enchanters in his whole kingdom. 21 And Daniel remained there until the first year of King Cyrus.” That’s what I call ELEVATION!!!
To me, one of the most intriguing scriptures in the whole first chapter of Daniel is this: 5b “They were to be trained for three years, and after that they were to enter the king’s service.” News Flash!!! These men were to be trained for three years and THEN they would enter the king’s service, BUT GOD elevated them in just TEN DAYS!!! That’s what I call ELEVATION!!! Now, I’d say that’s a good reason to sacrifice/crucify our flesh for ten days and dedicate ourselves to HIM!!!
If God did it for Daniel He will do it for you…….Many of us are believing for things to change in our lives; family, jobs, marriage, children, finances, ministry opportunities, and the list goes on. Elevation comes in many ways and God’s purpose in elevating our situations is for Him to be glorified, for Him to be elevated. For people to be drawn to Him. Is ten days too much to give Him when He has already given us so much and wants to do even more in our lives, I think not. Join all of us as we pursue our destiny’s and give God our First Fruit by fasting.
Maybe you hadn’t considered fasting, however, after reading these scriptures and seeing ALL that God did in Daniels life maybe you would like to join us in doing a 10 day fast from January 22-31st.
